Al on his grillThe Civano Neighbors Neighborhood Association second annual Oktoberfest on November 3 proved to be a big hit with at least 300 people—adults and children—at our neighborhood center. The music, by Musikmeister, entertained folks as they ate bratwurst, hotdogs and burgers, with the accompaniments brought by the attendees.

The neighborhood association, with the financial assistance of several sponsors, provided the meats (and some veggie burgers), and sold root beer floats and steins, plus other neighborhood products. Through this means the association was able to pay the expenses plus make a bit of money to help fund future events. Sponsors and attendeea are appreciated by us all!

Al Nichols used the event to inaugurate his newly constructed grill in the community garden, where he grilled burgers over a mesquite fire. These were deemed the best by those lucky enough to get one.

There were booths from Solar Cityand from a pet adoption group, plus a table to inform Civano residents about books needed for our community school. Rich and Ann Bates were able to collect donations of about $700 to help supply the middle school library with reading materials, as well as let neighbors know the books desired to complete the school collection. See article elsewhere for more information.
